The Pursuit of Happiness

“Happiness consists in activity.  It is a running stream, not a stagnant pool”      John Mason Good

“50 percent of individual differences in happiness are governed by genes, 10 percent by life circumstances, and the remaining 40 percent by what we do and how we think…our intentional activities and strategies”

“The How of Happiness” —Sonja Lyubomirsky’s Research

Friday Night on Riverside

One of my favorite Friday nights last night: Delicious fresh shrimp
ceviche created by my favorite personal chef, BG, a bit of porch
sitting and reading with Sonny dog-lots of candles, watched a BBC mystery movie on
Netflix-handsome Detective Lindley, and a bit of scrapbooking. HapM–Happy Moments!

Porch Sitting

It’s been done on Riverside Boulevard since 1938, with a yellow light–a bit different with the addition of a ceiling fan, but the same yellow light and rocking chairs, with the vision of my grandfather and ultimate soft whisper of a waterfall!!  Cool and fresh-making in the hot summer wind; chiminea warm and embracing  in Autumn.

There is NOTHING BETTER!    Lovin’ it!!

Pure Sweetness!

I met the most beautiful two-year old child recently, who has been diagnosed with optic nerve blindness.  She made the following statement while being encouraged to walk down the sidewalk to our room.  My task was to determine what possible additional interventions at this young age might be appropriate.  This sweet child said  “The summer is beaming on my neck. Turn it off.”    How poetic.  How tellingly perceptive at age 2!!!
